WHAT IS RPL?

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a simple process of obtaining qualifications or formal recognition through which the experience, skills, and knowledge gained through working and learning can be converted to nationally recognized qualifications.

Getting qualifications through RPL means that you don’t have to give exams or sit in a classroom for study. You need to show evidence of your experience, skills, and knowledge that you gained. Experience can be gained at any stage of their lives, through formal and informal learning of relevant qualification in Australia or overseas, through work or other activities such as volunteering.

RPL is recognized under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) to receive qualifications and licenses. RPL involves determining the progression of students through qualifications by giving credit/certification for learning outcomes they already have achieved.
